Parabens

By now, label reading has probably become second-nature to you.  Now, let us discuss one of the most common nasty ingredients - parabens.

Parabens are chemical preservatives that are used to maintain product integrity and to prevent microbial growth in the product solution.   These chemical preservatives are used because they are...you guessed it...CHEAP!  Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with a great deal, but saving a few bucks does not compare to the risks you are taking with these parabens.

1. Studies show that parabens have been connected to Breast Cancer.  The chemical mimics the functionality of a woman's natural estrogen activities.  This chemical has been found in removed tumor samples!
2. Parabens may also cause skin irritations.

Going forward, check your shampoos, lotions, skincare products, cosmetics and even your toothpaste for chemicals ending in -paraben.  If you see it, don't even think about purchasing the product!
